BIBLE VERSES

GENESIS 1:7

"And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so."

Inner Meaning

Genesis 1:7 describes the completion of the inner division introduced in verse 6. What was spoken as intention (“Let there be a firmament…”) is now established as an operative reality within the soul. The firmament becomes the first stable plane of consciousness, the boundary that separates the higher spiritual currents from the lower psychic and emotional forces.

This is the moment when the soul acquires inner structure. The Higher Self begins to differentiate itself from the personality.

The waters above and the waters below are no longer a single undivided mass; they are now two distinct modes of being.

This separation is not a punishment but a necessary stage of evolution. Without it, the soul would remain submerged in its own unformed depths, unable to rise.

Symbolic Breakdown

• The Firmament (Stabilized Inner Plane)

- The first organized layer of consciousness
- The boundary between higher and lower nature
- The formation of the causal body (vehicle of the spiritual ego)
- The inner “sky” under which the soul will develop

The firmament is the soul’s first act of self‑definition.

• Waters Below the Firmament

- Emotional life
- Instinctual impulses
- The lower psychic forces
- The unpurified aspects of the personality

These are not evil; they are simply the raw material of experience.

• Waters Above the Firmament

- Spiritual intuition
- Higher inspiration
- The luminous currents of the Higher Self
- The subtle energies that guide evolution

These are the soul’s higher potentials, now given room to ascend.

• “And It Was So”

This phrase marks the stabilization of the inner division.
The soul now possesses a functional architecture, a place where higher and lower can be distinguished, purified, and eventually reunited.

Esoteric Interpretation

Genesis 1:7 describes the soul’s first true act of discernment. The firmament is the inner capacity to separate what belongs to the higher nature from what belongs to the lower. Without this separation, spiritual growth is impossible; with it, the path becomes clear.

This is the beginning of inner order. The soul is no longer a formless sea. It now has a sky above and waters below, a structure through which the Divine can work.

The Esoteric Message…..

Spiritual life begins when the soul establishes an inner boundary, separating the higher currents of consciousness from the lower, creating the structure through which the Divine can shape and elevate the evolving self.
