GENESIS 5
God Takes Up
Enoch From Methuselah to Noah 25And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech: 26And Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and daughters: 27And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died. 28And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son: 29And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed. 30And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and daughters: 31And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died. 32And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth. MEHUJAEL AND METHUSHAEL - Symbols of the states, or qualities, of courage and endurance. LAMECH, SON OF METHUSHAEL - A symbol of reflection proceeding from endurance. SONS AND DAUGHTERS - Symbols of opinions or ideas, and of feelings or emotions, -the progeny of mind and emotion. Or, the higher mental qualities and the buddhic emotions,--the progeny of the Spirit. The name Noah comes from the Hebrew "Noach" which means "rest," or "repose." “This same [Noah] shall comfort us”, to bring comfort is to bring rest or repose. NOAH - A symbol of the individuality, or the manifested Self in evolution, -the permanent center of evolution in the soul. It is the buddhi-manasic principle, or the incarnation of the Self as applying to the three lower planes. "Noah is the divinely appointed figure, in whom the whole course of regeneration is set forth, every secret of this great mystery being here drawn for us as God alone could draw it. Noah, then, is the spiritual mind,-for he is only the continuation of Seth's line, and figures the form of life which the spiritual mind takes at this stage in its development, when it has come so far as to know the judgment of the old creation, and the way through that judgment to a cleansed and better world." - A. JUKES, Types of Genesis, pp. 104-5. HAND - A symbol of the directive principle of activity either outgoing (right) or incoming (left). The positive and negative aspects of Divine action in the soul. GROUND: EARTH - A symbol of the lower nature of the soul, which requires tilling ' and "sowing to produce good "fruit." “Therefore the Lord God sent him (Adam) forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken." - GENESIS. iii. 23. So the mind having ceased to be influenced from the buddhic plane (Eden) is directed by the Supreme law towards the lower plane activities whereof its own nature has been built up. CURSE ON THE GROUND - A symbol of limitation of the activities of the lower nature by moral law, through suffering. METHUSHAEL (Courage and Endurance) begets LAMECH (Reflection) which begets NOAH (Repose). From Adam to Noah we see the evolution of the mind, its thoughts, and how that ultimately leads to our unique personality or expression of God. PERSONALITY - A temporary aggregation of a limited number of soul-qualities about a center of consciousness during a life-period on the lower planes. Consciousness itself is spiritual and eternal, and is an attribute of the Divine monad or Ego in the personality; but the states of consciousness in the lower nature are phases of experience,— states which pass away, having no abiding reality. The personality has to be regarded as a limited manifestation of the immortal individuality which periodically out-breathes it and again inbreathes it. Its seat is in the lower mind, where it is an observer of a series of evanescent feelings and appearances on the mental plane. NOAH'S SONS - Symbols of the three Divine aspects, Will (Shem), Action (Ham), and Wisdom (Japhet); or in a lower sense, of intelligence, works, and desire. HAM, SON OF NOAH - A symbol of courage, action, and works, generated by the individuality. JAPHET, SON OF NOAH - A symbol of wisdom and determination,-aspects of the individuality as (Noah),—reflected inversely in the lower nature desire and will (lower). “Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth.” – 500: 5+0+0 = 5 FIVE, NUMBER - This number appears in Scriptures most often in two relations, namely, the planes of manifestation and the senses. THE FIVE PLANES OF MANIFESTATION – There are over 17 variations of these planes depending on cultural references. These planes are also known as baptisms, Christian and Greek are listed here. As we move (progress) from one level to another we are said to have had a baptism. Noah, the restful mind, is the first to comprehend and make order the 5 planes of manifestation from the perspective of the lower mind. It is not until our mind is at peace or resting that we begin to experience the higher planes of divinity (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost). CHRISTIAN (Father God) Son of God Holy Ghost Mental faculties Lower emotions Sensations GREEK (Father Æther) Good Mind Fire Air Water Earth
