CHRIST'S SECOND COMING

A symbol of the completion of the process of purification and development of the souls of humanity, when the lower consciousness rises to union with the higher.

"And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. But when these things begin to come to pass, look up, and lift up your heads; because your redemption draweth nigh." - LUKE xxi. 27, 28.

This refers to the consummation of the physical at the end of the cycle. Then as perfection of the soul-state approaches, the indwelling Christ appears in glory within the souls of the saints, or is raised above the condition wherefrom at first his descent was made. The “cloud" signifies a temporary veil which obscures the splendor of the Highest. The "lifting up of heads " refers to the aspiration of the minds, needful so that liberation from the lower nature may be effected.

“Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all things be accomplished." - LUKE xxi. 32.

Christ here points out that each grade of evolution of qualities now existent, shall not be extinguished until the complete process of soul-growth on the lower planes has been carried out.

“Friends, do not mistake the resurrection of Christ. You expect that He shall come in one single person as He did when He came to suffer and die, and thereby to answer the types of Moses' Law. Let me tell you that if you look for Him under the notion of one single man after the flesh, to be your Saviour, you shall never, never taste salvation by him. . . . If you expect or look for the resurrection of Jesus Christ, you must know that the spirit within the flesh is the Jesus Christ, and you must see, feel, and know from Himself His own resurrection within you, if you expect life and peace by Him. For he is the Life of the world, that is, of every particular son and daughter of the Father. For every one hath the Light of the Father within himself, which is the mighty man Christ Jesus. And He is now rising and spreading Himself in these His sons and daughters, and so rising from one to many persons. And this is to be saved by Jesus Christ; for that mighty man of spirit hath taken up His habitation within your body; and your body is His body, and now His spirit is your spirit, and so you are become one with Him and with the Father. This is the faith of Christ, when your flesh is subject to the Spirit of Righteousness (Gerrard Winstanley). - R. M. JONES, Mystical Religion, p. 496.
