WOMB OF MÂYÂ

A symbol of primordial matter- mental, astral and physical-in which the World-soul is conceived in the period of involution, and from which it is brought forth into the manifest existence of the involutionary cycle.

“Mâyâ also, holding him (Buddha) in her womb, like a line of clouds holding the lightning flash, relieved the people around her from the sufferings of poverty, by raining showers of gifts." - Buddha-Karita, I. 22.

The lower planes of matter being ready to be delivered of the Soul while Truth potential (Mâyâ) holds the Divine Life, so the lower nature becomes fructified of the Spirit within it, which is the means of developing the soul qualities (people). The "clouds" stand for truth-potential, and the "lightning" for life. generous donations symbolise the fructifying of the lower nature hitherto deficient in truth, wisdom, and love, which are the gifts of the Spirit and the wealth which puts on end to poverty or lack of the spiritual.

"First the Glory descends from the presence of Ahura-Mazda, where it abides in the Eternal Light; it passes through heaven down to earth, and it enters the house where Zoroaster's mother is to be born. Uniting itself with her presence it abides in her until she brings forth her first-born child Zaratusht." - Dinkard, VII. 2, 3.

The Divine Ray, or Spark, of Truth and Life, goes forth from the Absolute, at a particular stage of involution; passes through the upper planes, and descends to the astro-physical level (earth). The Divine Spark thereby enters the Womb of Matter (potential), and coming thus into relationship with the lower nature, indwells therein, until matter (mother mental, astral, and physical (earth), reaches the condition and period of delivery, when the Soul (Zoroaster) is born into the cycle of involution and into the buddhic causal-body, thus manifesting the World-soul.
