SIMORG, THE GREAT BIRD

A symbol of the Higher Self, the central Ideal of aspiration in all souls, and their Divine Archetype.

“The Highest is a sun-mirror; who comes to Him sees himself therein, sees body and soul, and soul and body. When you came to the Simorg, three therein appeared to you, and had fifty of you come, so had you seen yourselves as many. Him has none of us yet seen.” — Ferideddin Attar, Bird Conversations.

When the soul attains perfection, the many higher qualities are seen in the One, and the One in the many; for the soul then identifies itself with its innermost nature, which is one with the Supreme. As long as the soul identifies itself with external things, so long the One within remains unperceived by it.
