SALVE OF MEDEA

A symbol of the intuition, which, when realised, reconciles the mind ot the troubles and difficulties of life.

"Medea, who was an enchantress, gave Jason a salve to rub his body, shield, and spear. The virtue of this salve would last an entire day, and protect alike against fire and steel." - Argonautic Expedition, KEIGHTLEY, Mythology.

From Wisdom (Medea) comes the intuition which exercises over the lower mind an irresistible sway as soon as it becomes established. Wisdom presents the lower Self with that which reconciles difficulties and causes all seeming incongruities to be made plain. The "body" is a symbol of desire, the "shield" of will, and the “spear" of intention. The “virtue of the salve" is said to "last a day," inasmuch as it signifies that subtle force from above, which, acting on the lower planes, enables the ego thereon to rise a stage above where it formerly stood; and to serve as a protection against "fire and steel," symbolic of disintegrating and crystallising forces.
