PRIEST OF THE ALTAR

A symbol with the same meaning as "priest of Apollo."

"I accompany thy preparation, at the beginning each time, with words of praise, O intelligent (Homa)! when he (the managing priest) takes thy twigs. I accompany thy preparation, in each successive act by which thou art killed through the strength of a man, with words of praise, O intelligent." – Homa Yasht.

“I, the individuality, increase as thou, the Divine Life, dost live within me." The 'priest with twigs" is a symbol of the buddhic emotions, and these are interpreted through the mind. “I, the Self, celebrate thee in each successive mode of manifestation through the karmic law, and trace thee in all things up to the human in whom thou dost fulfil thy-self." The "words of praise bolise the higher aspirations which live and carry on the evolution. The "killing" refers to the sacrifice of the Logos in the Archetypal Man, on the one hand, and the defeat of the lower nature in man, on the other.

“The Advarya (priest) is the mind, and the Hotri (priest) is speech." - Sata. Bráh., I. 5, 1, 21.

“By priests in the Word are meant they who are in the truth of love." - SWEDENBORG, Apocalypse Revealed, n. 854.
