POURUSHASPA, THE FATHER OF ZOROASTER

A symbol of the early activities of the astral nature which lead to the birth of the Soul (Zoroaster).

"Pourushaspa was the fourth man who prepared me (Homa) for the material world; this reward he obtained, that thou wert born to him, O Zarathustra of the house of Pourushaspa, who art opposed to the demons, and of the Ahura religion." - Homa Yasht.

The preparation for the manifesting of the Divine Life through "Pourushaspa" means that at this period of involution the process of creation takes place upon the astral plane. And it is upon this plane that the World-soul (Zoroaster) is said to be born, inasmuch as the desire-principle (Pourushaspa), being the motive power of evolution, is the first means of enabling the Soul to commence by involution the accomplishment, through evolution, of its purpose. The desire-nature being essentially the love element (attractive) is opposed to the power of darkness (ignorance and inertia) and is the only means of awakening the positive, initiative power of the Soul. The desire-nature being of “the Ahura religion" means that it is through the awakenment of Love that the affinity of the Soul with the Higher Self is seen and known.
