NAKEDNESS (LOWER ASPECT)

A symbol of a state of ignorance, a lack of ideas and opinions (clothes). As all external states have analogous reference to internal states, this condition is emblematic of an empty state of soul.

"And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig-leaves together, and made themselves aprons.' - GENESIS. iii. 7.

And both the emotions and the mind perceive their utter nakedness or ignorance, that is, they recognize the necessity for further evolution. Fig leaves, so used, signify concealment of the inward growth of the Spirit.

“Now when Adam and Eve were awakened in the bestial property, the beast stood there naked and bare. When the Image of the Heavenly Essence did disappear, then the bestial property was manifest." - BOEHME, Mysterium Magnum, p. 96.

“By nakedness is signified ignorance of truth." - SWEDENBORG, Apocalypse Revealed, n. 706.
