MAHAVIRA-POT
A symbol of the causal-body the seat of the
individuality, and of the Self.
"A (mystical) theory makes the Mahavira pot a symbol of the sun,
whilst the hot milk draught represents the divine flood of life and
light with which the (Sacrificer) becomes imbued. These symbolic
interpretations, whatever we may think of them otherwise, certainly
adapt themselves admirably to the general sacrificial imagery. As
the sun is the head of the universe-or in figurative language, the
head of Pragâpati, the world. man, so its earthly and earthen
counterpart, the Mahâvira pot, is the head of Vishnu, the
sacrificial man and the Sacrificer." - J. EGGELING, translator of
the Sata. Bráh., S. B. of E., Vol. XLIV. Int. p. 48.
The sun is a symbol of the Higher Self which the lower self cannot
distinguish from the individual Self and its vehicle the
causal-body. The 'hot milk " is a symbol of the Divine life-atma-buddhi.
"Pragâpati "here stands for the Archetypal Man, who has sacrificed
himself for humanity. This is the indwelling Christ whose "blood"
(Divine life) cleanses from all sin as the soul evolves, that is, as
the incomplete changes its nature and finally becomes the complete.
