LAW OF ZOROASTER

The Divine Law of the growth of the Soul from a condition of illusion to a state of pure Truth.

"Ahriman and his daevas surround fallen man night and day, and seek to mislead him, in order to increase thereby the power of darkness. He would not be able to resist these temptations to which his first parents had already yielded, had not Örmazd taken pity on him, and sent him a revelation of his will in the Law of Zoroaster. If he obeys these precepts he is safe from the daevas, and under the immediate protection of Ormazd. The substance of the law is the command, Think purely, Speak purely, Act purely.' All that comes from Ormazd is pure, all from Ahriman impure."-Zoroastrian System.

As a spark of the Divine Self, the soul should know God. But the astral and physical consciousness limits the soul and prevents its attaining illumination. And so it is that the power of illusion is created, and further and further is the soul led away from the truth. Nor would it be possible for the soul unassisted to rise from these planes of consciousness unless there had been another forthpouring of the life of the Logos. This spiritual energy from above is spoken of as the Law of Zoroaster " which simply means the Divine Law of the Soul's growth. Obedience to the requirements of the Higher Life, places the soul beyond the illusoriness of the lower planes, for the soul may then dwell under the shadow of the Eternal and need fear no ill. The Divine Law insists upon the regulation of the life upon the lower planes by the soul itself, which shows that there is no abstract goodness to rely upon, and that apart from personal Thought, Speech, and Action, there is no salvation for the soul. The soul's safety consists in its transferring the impetus given to its life from Above, to the lower planes whereon it functions, and so overcoming ignorance and evil. The will and the thought regulate the lower life, and unless the higher impulses are translated into terms of individual volition and ideation they remain inoperative. God becomes God to man only in so far as man becomes God: in other words, as the human will becomes God-like, so humanity becomes indistinguishable from God.

“My Me is God."-St. Catherine of Genoa.

"Not from nature, only from man, from the social process (which Professor Huxley opposed to the cosmic) can we discern the Law by which man may elect to live. In the human and ethical sentiment which lies in our own heart alone, can it be we obtain a glimpse of the higher order which we identify with God." - R. DIMSDALE STOCKER, The God which is Man, p. 118.

"You begin to try to do right. And then it is, in the pursuance of that effort, that there become gradually impressed upon your intelligence certain things which had found no recognition there before. The spiritual nature of the world; that all this mass of things and events is fitted for and naturally struggles towards the education of character ;- the spiritual nature of man; the truth that man is fully satisfied only with character, and with an endless chance for that character to grow ;-and God; the existence, behind all standards and laws, of righteousness, of a perfectly righteous One, from Whom they all proceed, and by Whom those who try to follow them are both judged and helped." - PHILLIPS BROOKS, Serm., Eye of the Soul.

“It is the sanctified soul that can read the secrets of God, and not those which are wise only with the wisdom that is of this world. If you want to get behind the mystery of life, to find out what is the last word of creation, to learn the nature of the Creator and the life that is from everlasting to everlasting, you must seek it through goodness, and not through mere cleverness. It is the pure in heart who see God, and, one might add, it is those who have been conformed to the likeness of Christ who can sing the song of Moses and the Lamb. Heaven utters itself in the heart. This is what it means to say, that those who are redeemed from the earth learn the song which is being sung by the glorified ones around the throne of God." - R. J. CAMPBELL, Serm., The Song of the Redeemed.
