HANDS RAISED UPWARDS
A symbol of aspiration towards the higher life.
"Then Chryses, the priest of Apollo, lifted up his hands and prayed aloud for the Greeks suffering from pestilence." - Iliad, Bk. I.
Then the spiritual mind (Chryses) aspires towards the Divine within the soul, and seeks to raise the lower desire-mental qualities immersed in suffering and strife.
