FORM AND NAME, WHICH ARE SAID IN THE SCRIPTURES TO BE THE SAME AS MIND AND SPEECH
These are symbols of the Ideal and the Actual, or the Archetypal Spirit and its Unfoldment through and from Matter.
"The Brahman then descended again into these worlds by means of these two -Form and Name. As far as there are Form and Name, so far indeed extends this universe. These, indeed, are the two great forces of the Brahman. . . . One of these two is the greater, namely Form; for whatever is Name, is indeed Form."-Sata Bráh., XI. 2, 3, 3-6.
The Supreme manifests upon the five planes of the universe and the soul by means of these two states of the Divine Life, namely, the Ideal and the Actual. As far extended as there are the Archetypal causes above, so far are the unfolding effects below. These states are the two great manifesting conditions of the Absolute. One of these two is primal and essential, i.e. the Archetypal; for whatever is in process of evolution is the archetypal unfolding itself.
