FOOLS
A symbol of the lower minds or personalities entangled in the errors and illusions of sense and desire.
"Fools! for they have no far-reaching studious thoughts who think that what was not before comes into being or that anything dies and perishes utterly." - Empedocles, V. 45, FAIRBANKS.
The lower mind is foolish because it falsely imagines that the unreal can exist of itself, and the Real cease to be.
"Fools dwelling in darkness, wise in their own conceit and puffed up with vain knowledge, go round and round, staggering to and fro, like blind men led by the blind." - Katha. Upanishad, II. 5.
The lower mind, full of ignorance, self-esteem and illusion, passes from life to life in the world, buffeted by circumstances, and without true knowledge and wisdom.
