FLESH

A symbol of the lower nature, with its desires and passions.

"So then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh; for if ye live after the flesh, ye must die; but if by the spirit ye mortify the deeds of the body ye shall live." - ROM. viii. 12, 13.

"By flesh is signified man's proprium or self-hood, which in itself is evil.”
