FIRE FANNED BY THE WIND
A symbol of the spiritual emotions of love and truth as developed by the mental activities.
“Then like the young sun on the eastern mountains, or the fire when fanned by the wind, the prince (Buddha) gradually grew in all due perfection, like the moon in the fortnight of brightness." - Buddha-Karita, Bk. II. 20.
The “rising sun” is a symbol of the ascension of the Self in the soul; and this ascension is implied in the "fire" of celestial love and truth which is brought forth amid the kama manasic nature wherein its development is commenced, as emotion-nature first of all begins to grow up. As this refers to the period of Involution the "perfection " is archetypal, as is the “very good" of the first chapter of Genesis.
