And they did all eat and were filled." - MATTHEW xv. 35-37. The Christ within enforces obedience. "Sitting" corresponds to the position of acquiescence and receptivity of mind, in which attitude instruction could be given. The taking and giving of the "loaves and fishes" signifies the dispensing of such truths and goodness as were at the disposal of the disciplined qualities, which were then able to minister to the less-developed qualities of the soul. The eating and being filled correspond to a condition in which satisfaction for a time was arrived at. |
