BOAR OF ARES (MARS)
A symbol of the lower quaternary as energised by kama-manas.
"Ares in the form of a boar sets all evils in commotion." - PLUTARCH, Of Love, § 13.
“Ares in the form of a boar with savage teeth, bringing death, came to weave the web of fate about Adonis." - NONNUS, Dionysiacs.
“It is through the activity of kama-manas, the desire-mind or devil," that evolution at first takes place, and that all the evils in the world exist. The "web of fate" entangling the Higher Self is the desire-mentality which imprisons the Self, but which is the means, through Self-conquest, of the attainment of bliss and the results of experience.
