BOAR

A symbol of the lower quaternary, or of the astro-mental nature.

"Frey drove in a chariot drawn by a boar called Gyllenborste, or Slidrugtanne " - Prose Edda.

And now the Self animates the causal-body, only after, however, the evolution has been furthered upon the planes below, i.e. the quaternary.

"In the poetical tales of the ancient Scandinavians, Frey, the deity of the Sun, was fabled to have been killed by a boar; which was therefore annually offered to him at the great feast of Yule, celebrated during the winter solstice."

The Self (Frey) being completely involved in the matter of the lower planes is, as it were, killed by the lower quaternary.

"It is said that Adonis was slain by a boar. Now Adonis is supposed to be the same with Bacchus; and many rites in the worship of each confirm this opinion." - PLUTARCH, Symposiacs, 4, 5.

"Adonis " being the Self, the same explanation applies. The Buddha died through eating "boar's flesh": that is, the Soul having attained perfection through the consumption of the lower quaternary (boar), it dies out of the lower nature to be born into the higher.
