BLOOD OF BULLS
A symbol of the Life in the lower nature operating through desire only.
"And her (Queen Kypris) altar was not moistened with pure blood of bulls, but it was the greatest defilement among men to deprive animals of life and to eat their goodly bodies." - Empedocles, FAIRBANKS, 405.
In an early state of the soul, the static condition of the functioning of Wisdom, was not defiled by the struggle which was later on begotten of the divorce between desire (bulls) and reason, or between understanding and intuition. At this stage the sundering of the life and the form,- which was incidental to subsequent evolution, i.e. through the functioning of the lower mind,-was unknown.
