BHIMA SON OF VAYU AND PRITHA

A symbol of the intellect, the product of the higher mind and nature.

“Bhima's great strength had to be maintained by plentiful supplies of food as his name Vrikodara, 'wolf-stomached,' indicated a voracious appetite." - MON. WILLIAMS, Indian Wisdom, p. 382.

The intellect, which has such great power in the soul, requires to be supplied with knowledge (meat) of innumerable facts of nature and of life. The intellect is voracious for learning, and assimilates all it can for the support of its opinions, and for the formation of its theories. "Wolf-stomached" indicates the appetite of the intellect for the facts of the lower nature.
